    The growth rate in two groups of raínbow trout (Salmo gairdnerii) during free stage betwen 4 to 20 g of body weigth was compared. One of the groups took orígin from ímported eggs, the other, from natíve eggs. The growth was sígnificantly greater in ímported fish whích reached a weight of 20 g in 23 weeks. One of the groups took orígin from ímported eggs, the other, from natíve eggs. The growth was sígnificantly greater in ímported fish whích reached a weight of 20 g in 23 weeks. The native fish in the same períod obtained 13 g and they needed 8 more weeks to obtain 20 g. Feed efficiency was 1: 3,3 and 1:4,0 for the ímported and native fish respectívely. Mortality was slightly lower in ímported trouts.

Un grupo provenía de ovas obtenidas en el país y el otro de ovas importadas desde el extranjero. Los peces importados mostraron una velocidad de crecimiento significativamente superior a los nacionales, alcanzando en 23 semanas un peso de 20 g. Los nacionales, en el mismo período, sólo obtuvieron un peso de 13 g. necesitando 31 semanas para llegar a los 20 g. La conversión hasta los 20 g fue de 1:3,3 y 1:4,0 para los peces importados y nacionales respectivamente. La mortalidad fue ligeramente inferior en las truchas importadas.
